Ernesto P. Chua (born June 17, 1970) a.k.a Butch, is a professional physician, nurse educator, entrepreneur, national chess player,a basketball player, author, writer and a motivational speaker.
He began his teaching career at an early age and was considered as the most versatile lecturer of all time. He authored a lot of books including those that are used in the medicine and nursing review and currently writing his own biography. He owns the majority share of CDR review specialists Inc., which holds a record of 5 time 100% passing rate, and served as it's president from 2004-2012.
On top of his being a reviewer, he developed and organized different civic organizations and activities which promotes the peace process in the Philippines, feed the poorest of the poor, and responds to the immediate needs of victims of calamities. His political views and activism changed the tainted image of Nursing of the alleged leak of the 2000 Nurse Licensure Examination. He helped restore the integrity of the nursing profession in the Philippines by calling for a national retake of the controversial examination.
Chua is also noted to develop the concept of innovative learning, a guaranteed-pass review program, and a more scientific approach in the review industry and was imitated by his competitors in terms of style, delivery, and content.He is known as a person with a very strong convincing power and influence and applies the principle of "animal magnetism" in his delivery.
When he was young, he suffered 2 significant loses in his life (passing away of his mother and grandmother), he never had a normal growth environment which eventually molded him into a person with deep thoughts but suffered a long lasting depression. He compensated in academics and sports,but not so much in social aspect.
One strong aspect about Ern is his ability to multi-task and his undying will power.His positivism reflects like a shining star to other people that he can move them with his words
EARLY YEARS
Chua was born in Davao City, Philippines on June 17, 1970 to Mr. and Mrs. Joel F. Chua, and Ma. Remedios A. Pasco. Ernesto P. Chua (born June 17, 1970)

It was in 1982 that he discovered his interests in Mathematics and Sciences and excelled in these fields. In 1983 he was into school politics, music and arts, and on the subsequent year, at the age of 13, he was into debates. During these years, he made a lot of public speeches and won oratorical and extemporaneous speech contests.
In high school, he was engaged into music and sports and was one of the first who knows how to play guitar and piano in his school. This ignited his batch to learn how to play guitar as he popularized it. It was also in these times that he was undefeated in all of his chess games including those that are played out of school. Later in his 3rd and 4th year, he joined the a basketball team in their school league as a shooting guard and scores an average of 10 points, 11 assists, 3 steals, and 2 blocks per game. His basketball career was halted when he had an abdominal surgery
He moved to Manila, Philippines to study Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Univeristy of Santo Tomas. During his college days he was accidentally fell in love with his wife and the Father in Heaven grant them with 2 beautiful young ladies. In his college days, he organized a reformist group "MAGDALO - SOLID" and ran for president in the student council. He lost on a controversial election by 8 votes in favor of a minority leader. He was not able to serve office but was elected as the most outstanding student leader in 1991. He graduated in 1992 and was awarded as "Public Speaker of the year" after having been able to win trophies and honor for his alma mater. After graduating from college, he volunteered to take the nursing board exam ahead of his batch, being the only one from class 1992 to qualify for the said examination. He passed the examination and became a Registered Nurse in the Philippines all at the same year of his graduation.
CAREER
Right after passing the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination, he was discovered by EQ Review Center and was promoted to become the youngest national reviewer in the country. He worked as a freelancer and was rendering professional services to any other review centers and nursing universities. His wit and humor became his asset in teaching and his growing popularity does not only attract opportunities but enemies as well.
While working as a nursing educator, He decided to enter the world of medicine on his alma mater, University of Santo Tomas. He chose to be silent and be ordinary medicine student during his medicine life. In 1996, he graduated from medicine, right after passing the Physicians Licensure Examnination he took his residency at St. Lukes Medical Center, Global City. In 2000 he finish his residency and he started to work as full time resident at St. Lukes Medical Center, Global City and Makati Medical Center.
In June of 2000, there was a leakage scandal of the Philippine Nursing Licensure Examination.The Philippine government could not decide on what to do because nobody really knows the magnitude of the leak. The President of the Philippines made a statement of a "no retake" but later retracted it. Chua saw this as an opportunity to help end the controversy by defending the truth and upholding justice. He was arranged for an interview with the Philippine Daily Inquirer and was the subject of the headline "leak was everywhere". Chua called for a nationwide retaking of the examination as the only way of erasing the stigma of cheating in the examination. At first his statements angered a lot of students, but later on, his call for a retake was vindicated by the supreme court and supported by the US- CGFNS /visa screen as the only way to erase any doubts of the tainted examination.
He rose into popularity and was invited as resource speaker of different institutions the following years.
In 2010, he converted his review center,(CDR Review Specialist Inc.) into a corporation and started providing quality review in Davao City.
